After
working as a social worker in the 1970's, David A. Dalia graduated cum
laude from Tulane Law School in 1982. After a busy three year clerkship
with three State District Court judges, Mr. Dalia became an Assistant
Attorney General, serving in the Attorney General’s office under both
Attorneys General William J. Guste, Jr. and Richard P. Ieyoub. While at
the Louisiana Attorney General’s office, Mr. Dalia prosecuted a wide
variety of state and federal litigation, including constitutional law,
construction disputes, federal civil rights and copyright infringement
litigation, on behalf of the State of Louisiana. While at the Attorney
General’s office, Mr. Dalia co-authored an amici curiae brief filed in
the United States Supreme Court, representing Louisiana and thirty seven
(37) other States of the Union and the District of Columbia, in the foster
care class action case of Suter v. Artist M., which position prevailed in
that case. Mr. Dalia entered a statewide private practice in 1993, and has
maintained his law office at Suite 1800, 210 Baronne Street, in downtown
New Orleans since 1994. His current civil practice includes public law
issues, copyright infringement and intellectual property, the legal
problems of Museum administration, labor, longshoremen and harbor workers
cases, contracts, licenses and contract litigation, leasing, successions,
select personal injury cases and general civil litigation. Mr. Dalia
currently serves as Museum Counsel for the Louisiana State Museum, and is
also a counsel for New Orleans City Park and the Louisiana Museum
Foundation. Mr. Dalia serves on the Advisory Committee for the Louisiana
Supreme Court Law Library, and the Advisory Committee for the Tulane
University College Paralegal Program. Mr. Dalia also represents
screenwriters, songwriters, injured workers, musicians, longshoremen,
visual artists, non-profit corporations and other individuals, businesses and families.
